Open Enrollment, Available NOW!

Healthcare.gov is open for business starting on November 1
Beginning November 1, you can purchase health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace (healthcare.gov) during open enrollment. Best of all, significant financial help is still available based on income and family size. But open enrollment is only a short period of time – November 1 through December 15.

For anyone that needs insurance, don’t wait. Look at what coverage options are available to you and your family, figure out what plan will best meet your needs, and then get enrolled. Coverage purchased during open enrollment will begin on January 1, 2019.

Carefully examine your options
Lots of options will be available this year, including plans on healthcare.gov and some available elsewhere. With so many options out there, be sure to take the time you need to compare plans and understand the benefits covered. Are your current doctors in-network? Does it cover your medicines? Are there special health services that you want to use and need insurance for? Do you have a pre-existing condition and need stable and comprehensive coverage?

Its important to pick a plan that will cover all the services you need now—and in the future. Remember, not all plans offer the same protections and benefits. But all the plans you see on healthcare.gov MUST:

  • Offer comprehensive coverage including benefits like preventive services, women’s health services, and mental health
  • Include consumer protections and prohibit discrimination against pre-existing conditions
  • Offer discounts based on your income (almost 85% of enrollees qualify for financial help)

Shop around
Healthcare.gov makes it easy to compare health plans in their area to find the best plan for you and your family. Coverage might be more affordable than you think and more than 8 in 10 people qualify for financial help!

For people who already have coverage through Marketplace, please be sure you still take a look at what plans are available to see if something could better meet your family’s needs. During open enrollment, it is possible look at all the plan options available—and many may find they can switch plans and save money!
